Happy New Year to All...

Hi Everyone!!! I hope everyone has a Beautiful New Year filled with lots of Peace and Happiness and Fabulous Health!! I am sitting here on New Years Eve, thinking about the last year with all the truly happy moments and also the sad moments, and I thank God for everyone of them....I am very fortunate to have a loving family, and my faith in God. I have done a little bit of stitching these past few months, not nearly what I would have accomplished in previous years, but moments and people took priority in my life...hope to get back to stitchin in the New Year! I still follow all my favorite blogs, like Karen's - Primitive Quilts and Pat's and several others and I wish I could get things done as Beautifully and Fast as they do, maybe, maybe 2014!! Kate & Chris, The Wedding :)

 

DSC_0305 This is my daughter's wedding: Kate & Chris My son is next to my husband, Dave & I are next to Kate, my other daughter is the right of the Groom- Emily was the maid of honor ...my Mom, Anrita is being held up by the groom and my 3 sisters, she is 90 and soo happy that she made it! Please keep my Mom in all your prayers, she has not been well, since the summer and is failing.... Still sewing the quilt in header, on block 3 - YEAH, only has taken me two years so far and still counting! ARGH!! Can't get moving over here, kind of Stuck! :( Well,hope everyone's christmas shopping is hassle free and stress free, keep smiling :) Hugs, Mary

Beautiful appliqued table cloth

Hi Everyone, Oh I just have to share this beautiful tablecloth I bought at an Estate Sale...could not pass it up....it has a couple of light stains on it, but it is soo beautifully appliqued by hand...the daughter told me she thinks it was made in the 30's...so I took pics to share....she only charged me $25.00??? can you believe it??? I told her it was worth much much more, but she had a dozen or so, and wanted them off her hands...I even bought 6 napkins that went with it...the napkins were a dollar a piece....it honestly felt wrong I told her, but she just laughed, told me it belonged to her grandmother's sister....oh I would love to know the story behind this tablecloth or the lady who sat and did such beautiful work!! Enjoy!
I even took a picture of the underneath of one of the baskets so you can see the handy work, Isn't it just Beautiful!! Hugs, Mary

Oh I am certifiable!!

Hello Lovely Bloggers: I was thinking (well, daydreaming) and I came up with an idea...I know distubing, right???Well, my idea is would anyone want to sign up to make a block a month of this quilt by Sue Spargo? First, you would have to buy the book and then each month make a block....this would be block 1 then Block 2 and so on... I would keep track of everyone's progress by posting pics of blocks done each month, but they would never leave your lovely homes....this way we would encourage each other and if you wanted to do all the fancy stitching Sue does that is great, if not, no worries, Would anyone be interested in starting this with me - I would make a little logo so everyone could post on their blog too...It would be soo much fun, I have always wanted to make this quilt..."Magnolia" by S. Spargo :) Just let me know... Hugs, Mary

Hello.....

Hi....have a question for all of you talented people....does anyone know how to paper piece the word "LOVE"...am trying to finish up a quilt here but want to make the back of the quilt with the word LOVE pieced in the middle...found this in a magazine (the idea) but does not give directions how to do it/....have been racking my little brain, so if anyone has an idea how I would appreciate it :) Hugs, Mary

July 30th can you believe that????

Hi fellow bloggers:

I have been on vacation and planning for oldest daughters wedding so am just posting some pics to let everyone know I am still alive.....We went to North Carolina again, oh I just LOVE it there, so enjoy...there are pics of the ocean of course, and myself and two daughters, my son and my hubby with my brother in law....we stayed right on the ocean, I am almost sure this is what Heaven is like!!
My girls were doing some Pilates moves on the beach so snapped that one too!














 Then when I came home, these had arrived in the mail....Kate's wedding shoes, sooooo me being me had to dig up her baby shoes and I think the picture speaks for itself....oh now I am starting that cryi

ng again!!

Quilt Header

The quilt I am making that is pictured in my header is called "Winter Apple" by Blackbird Designs, Book is called "Garden Club", really nice book with lots of ideas and projects.  I have gotten a lot of emails asking so am posting title and name of block, hope this helps,

Herniated Disk - YUCK

Yep, have a Herniated Disk L5 SI, isn't that fun????   How did I do this to myself, haven't a clue????   Old Age- I'm only 54 and really that is the new 34 right? At least that is what everyone is telling me.....but I'm not buying it!  No instead going through Physical Therapy (for the second time), yes this happened originally 2 years ago, no surgery just therapy and could not for the life of me remember doing anything to harm my back, after all I have been doing this:
Well.....this actually is not ME but I have been participating in Pilates for 5 years now and before that, it was "The Step" aerobic exercises, oh and this too:
This IS me but haven't riden in 2 years!  :(

Well, I don't know so now am waiting for my appt at physical therapist....what trouble can I get into now????-----

Hi...

Just thinking here, yes thinking :)Was listening to the morning show here and laughed out loud, it was about a young "millenium" lady, "20 something yr old" that has written a book, and she said that some, not all, "20+ yr olds" think they are THE "special unique snowflake" and once out of college and in the work world, they find out that they are Not.....what a shock it is to find out that they are Not That Special Snowflake and I thought of some 20 yr olds (not naming names here) that do think that way and was laughing so hard I nearly spit out my Tea! :)  Oh...we all raise our kids to think they are that one special unique snowflake...I am guilty of that times ten, but, well, we love them so much that they are special and unique to us, but in the "Big World" it is soooo different....that is why there is "home"....."Home is where we come when we Fall and we All Fall"....  yep, Home :)

Love this saying...

"AWE" IS SUCH A LARGE WORD!   This was written next to a sign on the side of the road next to a picture of the Grand Canyon...I thought it was rather catchy :)

Well, I hope all you Dad's had a great day yesterday....the weather here was perfect and it was the first day of swimming in our new pool.  We had my family+ over and had a really nice day.  I am truly blessed with a Good Man and a Great Dad for our kids - well young adults....He is honest and loving ...I only wish his Father was alive to see the Wonderful Dad and Hubby he is to all of us in "Burns' Family"  ...I love you, Dave!

Just some thoughts....

Hi everyone,

Someone told me this today and I thought I would share with all of you,...

 "“The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths.  These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity and an understanding of life that fills them with compassions, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen.”(Elizabet K. Ross)  I thought this was so true. 

My blog is an extension of myself, like all of yours, and somedays I post quilting projects some I have finished, some I am working on, and some I just dream about making....and, other days I post things happening in my life... but a blog is really about the person.  I have found that to be true while reading other blogs and the connection that we have to one another in this cyber world is very real.  So I just wanted to thank those that follow, post comments, don't post comments but still read, you are all very very special to me!  You are all Beautiful people to me!!

I hope you all have experienced Beautiful people in your lives, I know I have and I am blessed for it!

Crazy town around here!!! Oh Boy!

I know, I know, quilting blog Mary!  But.....WE WON!!  THE HAWKS WON FIRST GAME AGAINST L.A.!!!  So exciting to be in the Playoff Finals!!!  Here are some pics from the game,the Hawks are really good but L.A. has an awesome goalie - so biting nails over here!!!  May the best team win!!!  Yeah!














I can't promise this is the last of me posting hockey pictures, but I will try not tooo, however, it is really getting exciting around Chi town!  As you can see we are in the nose bleed section (3rd level) and boy does it get Crazy up there, but all in fun!
